Walking

Brooklyn is walking! While she is not quite ready to run a marathon like her father, she is on her way.

Beat the Heat

It has been HOT this past week so it was time to break out Brooklyn's inflatable pool.

Water sprays out the turtle's head for some added fun.

Running Man

Charlie ran his first half marathon this past Sunday. 2 hours, 18 minutes and 32 seconds later, he finished the race. Way to go Charlie!!! Brooklyn, Charlie, Zach, Claire, Rachel and Joe after the race.

Journey was playing as Charlie crossed the finish line.

Beep Beep!

Brooklyn got a pink convertible hot rod for her birthday. It has a gas button for her to push on her steering wheel. But until she is old enough to handle that, there is a parent handle which steers and controls the gas.

She took her first outdoor spin in our driveway.

Go Royals!

Sunday we all went to the Royals game. The weather was perfect and we had seats in the shade. Get your brooms out!
The best part was the Royals won, three game sweep.

Brooklyn is our little clapper. She really gets into the game.

Royals rule!

Oreo Cookie

Since Brooklyn's birth, Grandpa Richard has been wanting to give Brooklyn her first Oreo. We made him wait, since we wanted her first sweet to be her birthday cake. While visiting his wish was finally fulfilled:)

Party Time!

We had Brooklyn's birthday party at our local park. We rented a shelter house near the playground and grilled some lunch. Mema getting some quality time with Brooklyn.

Cousins Sophia and Maura putting their party hats on for cake time.

Chocolate! Brooklyn's first taste of chocolate.

It got a little messy. Brooklyn was having a blast until she got the frosting in her eyes. After that, she was done:(

After washing Brooklyn, it was present time. Here's Brooklyn clapping for her new dollhouse.

Happy Birthday!

Our baby girl turned one this past Thursday June 11th. Where did the year go? Her party was not until Saturday but we treated her to a cupcake for her birthday. We hadn't given her any sweets yet so this was a real treat for her.

Finally digging in.

Yummy frosting!

"Woo-hoo! Where have you been all my life sugar? I love you!"

"Mom you have to try this!"
Brooklyn is big on sharing her food.

Swimming!

We enrolled Brooklyn in her second swim class. She really seems to enjoy the water.

Sitting with Grandpa and waiting for class to start.

Holding her certificate. The last couple days of class were a bit chilly as you can tell from Brooklyn's hat.

Bib head

Val's parents came out to visit this past week from California. Their flight was delayed six hours so they missed Brooklyn their first night but got to see her first thing in the morning. Brooklyn was a excited to show them her new tricks.

Brooklyn and Grandpa modeling the newest fashion:) She LOVES putting things are her head.

After she puts the bib on her head, she takes off crawling until it falls off. Silly girl.

Brooklyn's first trip to the K!

We took Brooklyn to go see her first Royals game at Kauffman Stadium at the end of May. Unfortunately the Royals came up short (3-5) against their division rivals the Chicago White Sox.
It was a sellout crowd. Occasionally, Brooklyn even joined in with the cheering with her clapping.
Before the end of the game, we decided to head out in the outfield to see the new amenities at the stadium. The lady running the carousel let us on for free. This was Brooklyn first ride on a carousel and she got to ride on the Royal's mascot Slugger! She didn't know what to think once it started and she was going up and down and around all at once. It was a little nerve racking for her but she hung in there.
Val took a turn with her too. She opted for the stationary seat so Brooklyn could relax. We must have a baseball fan on our hands cause Brooklyn was up past her bedtime and did really well. We are looking forward to taking her again.
Go Royals!

Snap!

Brooklyn has recently learned to snap. We snap at the cat and when we listen to music and Brooklyn has picked up the skill and does it often now.
